What is the field that you work in? the field in which you work is what decides your dressing. The creative field men can dress casually but in a professional field men need to dress in a respective manner.
Take the supervisors cue: always dress the way in which your supervisor is dressed and not like your colleagues.
Is your job jeopardy? do dress in professional every day but never go overboard. However do see to it that your dress is pressed and laundered.
Date night rules
When you are going out on a date either happily married or with a spouse do see to it that you are well dressed and also see to your comfort level.
Do match to the surroundings: if you are going to a restaurant then see to it that you are dress accordingly. And if you are going to a park then be very casually dressed.
Do take cues from the date: if you do not have the idea of where you are going then ask your date about it before hand. If she is dressed in a jean then take a cue from her and you also get dressed in jeans.
Play rules
When you are planning out for a game or brunch with friends then dress in the way you like but remember to be comfortable and relaxed. This is the time to show of your personality and show your own rules.

Always remember that matching is not what are men bothered about. Cleanliness is the most important thing and always wear the clothes that properly fit you.
